Lower School
The Lower School at MGS is a vibrant and inclusive community where diversity is celebrated, and every day is filled with fun and laughter. We embrace individuality and the unique qualities each pupil brings.
Our pupils join us from a variety of primary schools, often as the only boy from their former school. To ensure a smooth transition, we host numerous events both before and after the offer of a place, helping new pupils feel at home from day one. With small tutor groups of around 12 boys, our pupils receive personalized attention and support. These groups are paired into teaching groups or Forms, fostering close-knit relationships and a supportive learning environment.
Our curriculum is designed to be varied, stimulating, and enjoyable. Pupils explore new and exciting subjects taught by specialist teachers, giving them a taste of everything, allowing them to pick GCSE subjects that set them for success. They have the freedom to choose their preferred language and benefit from excellent facilities for practical subjects like Art, Drama, and General Science. Sport plays a significant role in our curriculum, but we offer much more than traditional team sports.
Our extensive range of trips, both as part of the core curriculum and optional weekend excursions, helps pupils bond with each other and their teachers in diverse settings. With over 100 different clubs and activities available, our co-curricular program is second to none. We encourage all pupils to participate in our Diploma program, which challenges them to make the most of the opportunities available during their time in Lower School.
Our experienced senior team supports the tutor team, ensuring the pastoral care of every pupil. We are committed to developing the whole person, instilling values such as resilience and compassion alongside academic progress. We are proud of the progress our pupils make and the well-rounded individuals they become. Every boy is valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their best.
