Sixth Form Entry

We base our judgements for entry on an Assessment Day. These days are tailored to suit the likely combination of subjects indicated by candidates.

We are keen to ensure that every candidate has an equal chance of success based on potential. For this reason, some of the assessments that take place are based on new stimulus material covering topics candidates will not have met before, whereas others assess current knowledge. The day also includes an interview to allow us to gain a clear picture of their co-curricular interests and academic passions.

Conditional offers are made on the basis of performance on the Assessment Day. Typically, we set offers of a student achieving an average of a grade 7 (equivalent to an A in the old grading system) across his GCSE subjects, with at least a grade 8 in the subjects they are choosing to study.
