PE and Games
Physical Education makes an important contribution to the education and physical development of our boys.
In P.E. we aim to provide all boys with a broad and balanced education, with a focus on enjoyment and progression, and developing each boy’s physical skills and interests in our extensive range of activities.
We seek to strike a balance between performance and participation, not only enabling our most able sportsmen to achieve excellence, but also catering for the needs of all boys in the context of a PE and games curriculum which is underpinned by a ‘sport for all’ philosophy. All boys can experience co-curricular sport, and the valuable social and moral lessons it brings.
Our P.E. specialists and professional coaches provide high quality teaching and coaching, bringing with them wide experience of playing and coaching at representative or international level. Every encouragement is given to boys to realise their full sporting potential whilst utilising first class facilities at MGS. This is supported by sports tours (home and abroad) which widen the sporting and cultural experience of our boys, while consolidating relationships and building new ones. Recent overseas tours have included South Africa (rugby), Florida and Portugal (football), Malaysia and Holland (hockey), Malta (Water Polo) and Dubai (cricket).
